Project „That open and free is good” is directed to youth in age 13-15. The initiative group will be set up by persons closly realated with IT in age 17-22. Project aims to popularization and prevalence free and open sorce programs among schoolchildren. We are being aware of very high quantity pirate software, so we want to show they alternative solutions, which are primarily free and legal and also sometimes more functional than paid software. The purpose of our actions are prevalence free and open source software and reduction persons who use illegal, pirated programs by demonstaration powers of free source software. Activities will be realized by management the portal and workshops in 1-2 gymnasium classes, because at this age growing interest and awareness of using computers. During the meetings with students free and open software will be shown experimentally, interesting and inviting. After each meeting students recive CDs with presented softwer and schools recive full package to equip IT lab. The projectd will be incorporated with schools from nearly villages. We except to organize two open prelections for residents our town and nearly villages. Portal, which will be guided by initiative group, will include basic informations, advices and interests. As a result project participants will acquire knowledge of open source software and will get to know alternative software. We will created the portal about free and open source software and we will widespread CDs with open source software.
